PRINT MAKING
Rainbow Alice series of screen prints
I was fortunate enough to have had James Sellars as my tutor at my first art college. His skills in the basic art reproductive methods and their history (particularly Samuel Palmer) i.e. etching, lithography, aquatint, engraving (both on wood and metal) were passed onto me with great intelligence and enthusiasm. I shall always be grateful for his kindness and discipline.
When it became possible to use computer graphics as a source of inspiration, also its most excellent reproductive techniques, so since the mid 90's it has been my chosen media for experimentation. Its properties of overlaying, its rich use of colour, that may be subtle but also intense, is of great value and seems to be its natural language.
The simple use of ink-jet printing for publishing purposes cannot be over emphasised in importance. Hence my founding of the Garage Press in 1997.
